VIRTUAL EDUCATION AND FACILITATED MEETINGS

A way forward for investigative training

Kinaston Associates have been examining the benefits of using virtual training sessions.  We are now able to offer our courses and discussion sessions in a virtual environment.  This reduces the pressure on clients to find available meeting rooms and controls the need for travel and hotel stays.

We have discovered that many delegates actually prefer working remotely which falls inline with current Covid precautions.  At first there is some strangeness and uncertainty with using the medium, however the feedback that we have received has been very enthusiastic.

The system that we use enables delegates to take advantage of joining sessions from anywhere where there is a suitable internet connection.  Delivery is facilitated using a mixture of emailed presentation slides, audio clips, virtual breakout rooms, white board explanations, group discussion and didactic presentation.

Sessions are designed so that delegates have comfortable periods of contact (One and a half hours) enabling some screen down time.  We have found that a number of sessions with 30 minute breaks are better than a continuous block.

The sessions fall into three areas:

1. CPD style interactive sessions related to developing the safety culture within an organisation and linking this to data collection and analysis.

2. Educational sessions linked to our two and four day programmes in industrial accident investigation and causal analysis.

3. Discussion sessions in relation to setting up a a formal link between the corporate governance of the safety culture and loss data.
